P2324
Ignition Coil I Primary Control Circuit Low
What it means
The primary control circuit of ignition coil I reads a voltage below the expected level — usually a short to ground on the primary driver wire or a low-resistance fault in the coil primary winding. Coil I cannot build a normal charge, so the cylinder it fires misfires, especially under load. Causes: short to ground in the primary wiring, an internal coil primary fault, or a faulty ECU/igniter driver.
Is it safe to drive?
The vehicle is usually drivable for short distances, but the problem can worsen or affect emissions. Diagnose and repair as soon as practical.
Most likely causes
Primary winding shorted to ground or harness chafed
highOne of the most commonly reported causes for this code — check this first.
Coil I internal driver fault
mediumA plausible cause — test and verify before replacing parts.
Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
lowLess common, but worth ruling out after the more likely causes.
